Operation LEGACY Seeks Photos and Letters for Inclusion in "Book of Remembrance"

As part of the Learning Legacy—the comprehensive collection of 100th Infantry Division documents at the General George C. Marshall Library at the Virginia Military Institute—the Association Endowment Committee is soliciting certain photos and documents.

To memorialize those Centurymen who fell during the war, we are accepting copies of photos of them in uniform during the war. At least one photo, of those that we receive, of the Division's wartime dead will be placed on file in the Division "Book of Remembrance" in the collection at the VMI, and may eventually be displayed on the Association website as well.

To augment the voluminous operational and intelligence records which will be included in the collection, the Association is also accepting copies of letters written by Centurymen during the war. Such correspondence will greatly enhance researchers' comprehension of the "heart and soul" of the 100th Infantry Division, and will be stored and indexed along with the Division's official primary source records and secondary source histories in the Marshall Library.

Please send COPIES of photos and correspondence only, as nothing that is contributed can be returned. Contributors will be notified, however, when the items they send are officially posted in the Division collection.

Contributors are requested to submit material to Herb Chandler, 300 Ruth Avenue, Mansfield, OH 44907.
